The first mention of the town of Khotchino, lying lying fifteen miles (twenty-four kilometers) southwest of St. Petersburg, dates from 1499, when it had been a possession of Novgorod.
Later it had belonged to Livonia and Sweden.
It had been returned to Russia after 1721and in the 1720s belongs to the sister of Peter I the Great, Natalia.
