The Bulgarian army has continued its victorious campaign more or less unhindered by enemy forces, although the emperor has melted down his personal treasure in order to recruit more soldiers.

The conquest of South India (the Deccan) by the Delhi Sultanate had started in 1295 when Alauddin Khilji, as the son-in-law and commander of the Sultan Jalaluddin, had raided and plundered Devagiri.

The rajas, so powerful that they are held by the Sultanate to be the rulers of all the Deccan, had been reduced to pay tribute.

The tribute falling into arrears, Devagiri is again occupied by the Muslims under the Ghurid slave-general Malik Kafur, in 1307.

Ramachandra, the king, is taken to Delhi.

Khalji will soon reinstate Ramachandra in return for a promise to help Khalji subdue the Hindu kingdoms in South India.

William Tell, a legendary hero of Switzerland and a universal symbol of resistance to oppression, is supposedly a native of Burglen in the area of Uri, which is under the tyrannical control of the bailiffs of Austrian overlords.

Tell, who supposedly refuses in 1307 to obey the commands of Bailiff Gessler, is then forced to shoot an apple placed on the head of his son (echoing a familiar folkloric motif).

Succeeding in this, Tell goes on to lead an uprising to victory against the Austrians.

Dolcino, leading a fanatical horde of Apostolic Brehren who are in daily expectation of seeing the judgment of God on the Church, has since Segarelli’s execution maintained in the mountainous districts of Novara and Vercelli a guerilla warfare campaign against the crusaders who had been summoned to put him down.

Cold and hunger are still more dangerous enemies; and finally the remnant of his forces are captured by the bishop of Vercelli: about one hundred and fifty persons in all, including Dolcino himself and his "spiritual sister," Margareta, both of whom, refusing to recant, are burned at the stake on June 1, 1307.

This effectively ends the sect's history.

Later, in the middle of the century, traces of their activity will be found, especially in northern Italy, Spain, and France, but these are only isolated survivals.
