The eventual abolition of slave trade in…
January 1835 CE
The eventual abolition of slave trade in Brazil is due in part to the 1835 rebellion, although it will take a little over fifteen years to occur.
Slavery is to exist in Brazil for more than fifty years following the Malê Revolt, but the slave trade will be abolished in 1851.
Slaves continue to pour into Brazil immediately following the rebellion, which causes fear and unrest among the people of Brazil.
They fear that bringing in more slaves will simply fuel another rebel army.
