The masses and motets of John Taverner,…
October 1545 CE
The masses and motets of John Taverner, the most important English composer of the past quarter-century, span the earlier polyphonic style current in the reign of Henry VIII, and the more modern quasi-homophonic vein of the reformers, with who he is evidently in sympathy.
He dies on October 25, 1545, at about age fifty.
