Parliament responds to the unrest in January 1769, by reactivating the Treason Act 1543, which calls for subjects outside the realm to face trials for treason in England.

The governor of Massachusetts is instructed to collect evidence of said treason, and the threat causes widespread outrage, though it is not carried out.
