Kościuszko, trying to prevent both Russian armies…

Kościuszko, trying to prevent both Russian armies from joining up, mobilizes two regiments from Warsaw and with General Sierakowski's five thousand soldiers engages Fersen's force of fourteen thousand on October 10 in the Battle of Maciejowice.

Kościuszko is wounded in the battle and is captured by the Russians, who send him to Saint Petersburg.
