November 1874 CE
Forrest's team reaches Adelaide on November 3, 1874, more than six months after they had started from Geraldton.
From an exploration point of view, Forrest's third expedition is of great importance.
A large area of previously unknown land had been explored, and the popular notion of an inland sea has been shown to be unlikely.
However the practical results are not great.
Plenty of good pastoral land had been found up to the head of the Murchison, but beyond that the land is useless for pastoral enterprise, and Forrest is convinced that it will never be settled.
