The Tonquin had departed for Guangzhou on March 22, 1809.

Sailing roughly northwest from Vanua Levu, the islands of modern Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands had been sighted, in addition to parts of the Federated States of Micronesia, such as Kapingamarangi, which Fanning calls the Equator Isles.

After entering the Guangzhou port, the sandalwood cargo is sold in return for various Chinese products.

The Tonquin will safely return to New York City.
