Thomas Wintour, Ambrose Rookwood, Robert Keyes, and…
January 1606 CE
Thomas Wintour, Ambrose Rookwood, Robert Keyes, and Guy Fawkes are hanged, drawn, and quartered the following day, opposite the building they had planned to blow up, in the Old Palace Yard at Westminster.
Keyes does not wait for the hangman's command and jumps from the gallows, but he survives the drop and is led to the quartering block.
Although weakened by his torture, Fawkes manages to jump from the gallows and break his neck, thus avoiding the gruesome latter part of his execution.
