The French Emperor requests a personal interview with Alexander I the next day (November 28), and receives visit from the Tsar's most impetuous aide, Count Dolgorouki.

The meeting is another part of the trap, as Napoleon intentionally expresses anxiety and hesitation to his opponents.

Dolgorouki reports to the Tsar an additional indication of French weakness.

The plan is successful.

Many of the Allied officers, including the Tsar's aides and the Austrian Chief of Staff Franz von Weyrother, strongly support an immediate attack and appear to sway Tsar Alexander.

Kutuzov's plan to retreat further to the Carpathian region is rejected, and the Allied forces will soon fall into Napoleon's trap.
