Hermanfrid, king of the Thurnigii, is talking…
532 CE
Hermanfrid, king of the Thurnigii, is talking with Theuderic, the Frankish king of Metz, on the town walls of Zülpich when somebody pushes him to his death.
Gregory mentions that certain people had ventured to suggest that Theuderic might have had something to do with it.
Hermanfrid's niece Radegund is now forced to marry King Clothar, while Hermanfrid's wife Amalaberga, the niece of the late Theodoric the Great, flees to the Ostrogoths with her children Amalafrid and Rodelinda.
She will later captured by the Imperial general Belisarius and sent to Constantinople, where Amalafrid will later became an imperial general and Rodelinda will be betrothed to the Lombard king Audoin.
