February 1831 CE
A Russian army of one hundred and fifteen thousand under Field Marshal Hans Karl Friedrich Anton, Count von Diebitsch had crossed the Polish borders within days.
The first major battle takes place on February 14, 1831, near the village of Stoczek near Lukó., where Polish cavalry under Brigadier Józef Dwernicki defeat the Russian division of Teodor Geismar. However, the victory has mostly psychological value and cannot stop the Russian advance towards Warsaw.
The subsequent battles of Dobre, Wawer, and Bialoleka will be inconclusive.
