Aussa Sultanate
The Aussa Sultanate (alternate spelling: Awsa or Assaw) (r. 1734-present), also known as the Afar Sultanate, is a kingdom that exists in eastern Ethiopia in the area bordering Eritrea and Djibouti.
It is considered to be the leading monarchy of the Afar people, to whom the other Afar rulers nominally acknowledge primacy.
