Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren (née Ericsson) (November 14, 1907 – January 28, 2002) is a Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays.
She is best known for children's book series featuring Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, and the Six Bullerby Children (Children of Noisy Village in the US).
As of May 2013, she was the world's 18th most translated author and has sold roughly 145 million books worldwide.
