Le Hoàn (941 – 1005), posthumous name Emperor Đại Hành, is the first emperor of the Early Lê dynasty, succeeding Đinh dynasty as rulers of Annam.
He starts his career as a commander in the army of the first Vietnamese emperor Đinh Bộ Lĩnh and rises to the position of commander-in-chief.
Following the death of Đinh Bộ Lĩnh, Lê Hoàn becomes regent to Đinh Bộ Lĩnh's successor, the six-year-old Đinh Toan.
Lê Hoàn deposes the boy, marries his mother the Empress Dowager Duong Van Nga, and in 980 proclaims himself emperor.
He retains the imperial capital at Hoa Lư and succeeds in warding off several invasions by the Chinese Song Dynasty, but pays them regular tribute with the aim of securing peaceful relations.
When he dies in 1005, the Lê Dynasty goes into decline.
