Stanisław Poniatowski (Chojnik September 15, 1676 – August 2 or 30, 1762) is a Polish–Lithuanian noble, diplomat and military commander.
He is a Swedish General, General of the Lithuanian Army (generał lejtnant wojsk litewskich).
He beomes Podstoli of Lithuania (podstoli litewski) in 1722, Grand Treasurer of Lithuanian Army (podskarbi wielki litewski) in 1722, voivode of the Masovian Voivodeship in 1731, regimentarz of the Crown Army (regimentarz wojsk koronnych) in 1728, castellan of Kraków in 1752.
He holds numerous starost appointments.
Knight of the Order of the White Eagle since 1726 and father of king Stanisław August Poniatowski, he is one of the founders of Familia ("The Family", from Latin familia, a Polish political party led by the Czartoryski magnates and families allied with them), and his political activities in the Commonwealth are always designed to strengthen the familia's position.
