July 1821 CE
George IV decides to exclude his estranged wife from his coronation at Westminster Abbey, on July 19, 1821.
Caroline falls ill that day and will die on August 7; during her final illness she will often state that she thought she had been poisoned.
George's coronation is a magnificent and expensive affair, costing about £243,000 (approximately £18,994,000 as of 2012; for comparison, his father's coronation had only cost about £10,000, equal to £1,457,000 today).
Despite the enormous cost, it is a popular event.
