May 1522 CE
Lautrec's departure heralds a complete collapse of the French position in northern Italy.
No longer menaced by the French army, Colonna and d'Avalos march on Genoa on May 22, capturing it eight days later after a brief siege.
Since Genoa had refused to surrender, the Imperial troops are permitted to loot the city once it falls.
