The Indian National Congress, a national, all-India…
1888 CE to 1899 CE
The Indian National Congress, a national, all-India forum, is an umbrella organization.
Many of its members envision a long British period of tutelage and advocate strictly constitutionalist and gradualist reforms, but after the First World War, Congress will argue for a speedy end to alien rule.
The idea of the territorial integrity of India and opposition to any sectarian division of India, however, will always remain sacrosanct to Congress.
