Together with other associates, President Ignacio Comonfort…
November 1857 CE
Together with other associates, President Ignacio Comonfort issues the Plan de Tacubaya, agreed to by several high-ranking officials of the administration, including the Chief Justice, Juárez (who assumes a low profile, out of political considerations), and the Catholic clergy.
Essentially, this plan negates the validity of the Constitution.
In exchange, the Church repeals the March, 1857, excommunication decree for those who adhered to the new plan.
Comonfort is succeeded by General Félix María Zuloaga on November 30.
