The allied squadron tries to go past Taganrog to Rostov-on-Don in July 1855, entering the River Don through the Mius River.

On July 12, 1855, HMS Jasper grounds near Taganrog thanks to a fisherman who moves buoys into shallow water.

The Cossacks capture the gunboat with all of its guns and blow it up.
