to 1472 CE
Basilios (or Basilius) Bessarion (January 2, 1403 – November 18, 1472), a Roman Catholic Cardinal Bishop and the titular Latin Patriarch of Constantinople, is one of the illustrious Greek scholars who contributes to the great revival of letters in the fifteenth century.
He has been mistakenly known also as Johannes Bessarion due to an erroneous interpretation of Gregory III Mammas.
