Joseph Marin de la Malgue, (b. February 1719 – d. 1774) is the son of Charles-Paul Marin de la Malgue and continues on in the family military and exploration tradition, entering the colonial regular troops at the age of thirteen.
He spends the next thirteen years in the Michigan and Wisconsin areas including the Michilimackinac area, west of Baie-des-Puants.
Mostly based out of the Baie-des-Puants post, he learns the fur trade and becomes fluent in a number of Indian dialects.
