Nicolas Notovitch (1858-?)
was a Russian aristocrat, Cossack officer, spy and journalist known for his contention that during the years of Jesus Christ's life missing from the Bible, he followed traveling merchants abroad into India and the Hemis Monastery in Ladakh, India, where he studied Buddhism.
Russian journalist Nicolas Notovich is reportedly shown manuscripts from the first to second centuries referring to the life and works of “Issa”, a son of Buddha, and an Israelite, during an 1887 visit to a Buddhist monastery in Ladakh, Tibet.
