Cardona marches to relieve the city in…
April 1512 CE
Cardona marches to relieve the city in early April, and is decisively beaten in the resulting Battle of Ravenna, fought on Easter Sunday; the death of Foix during the fighting, however, leaves the French under the command of Jacques de la Palice, who, unwilling to continue the campaign without direct orders from Louis, contents himself with thoroughly sacking Ravenna.
