The Lombard League is disbanded. Lodi, Novara,…
October 1238 CE
The Lombard League is disbanded.
Lodi, Novara, Vercelli, Chieri and Savona are captured or submit to the emperor, while Amadeus IV of Savoy and Boniface II of Montferrat confirm their Ghibelline allegiance.
Milan, Brescia, Piacenza and Bologna remain alone in arms.
Frederick, now at the top of his strength, besieges Milan, rejecting all Milanese peace overtures and insisting on unconditional surrender.
Milan and five other cities, however, hold out, and, in October 1238, he has to raise the siege of Brescia.
