1175 CE
Al-Adil rules Egypt while his brother Saladin is in Syria.
Kanz al-Dawla of Aswan has revolted against the Ayyubids in 1174–75 with the intention of restoring Fatimid rule.
His main backers are the local Bedouins and Nubians, but he also enjoys the support of a multitude of other groups, including the Armenian Christians.
