Scottish industrialist
1837 CE to 1924 CE
George Lauder (November 11, 1837 – August 24, 1924) is a Scottish industrialist.
A trained engineer, he is the "cousin-brother" of steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, and a partner in the Carnegie Steel Corporation.
The sale of Carnegie Steel to J.P. Morgan creates U.S. Steel where Lauder is on the board of directors.
This is the first corporation in the world with a market capitalization exceeding $1 Billion USD.
